Beautiful and Ornate Thai Architecture

This Thai Temple is situated at Kampung Begia. Visitors are allowed to seek refuge and consult the monks. Apart from being a popular monastery, the ornate architecture of the temple is simply mind-blowing. One of the most outstanding buildings would be the gold and red coloured building with the four-faced Buddha.

Thai Temple with a Unique Twist'
Wat Chong Charern lies en route to Beris Lake. One of the must-visit sections would be the gazebo. The gazebo houses two gigantic elephant statues which are intricately crafted. Next to it is the statue of the Goddess of Mercy which is quite a rare sighting in a Thai temple.

Laksa Buyung

Home of Kedah-Specialty Laksa
Laksa Buyung is made by slow-cooking the laksa in a large earthenware pot, which is said to be able to enhance its flavour. Laksa Buyung comes with condiments of shredded cucumber, salad leaf and a whole hardboiled egg. For those who like more zing, squeeze a lime or two on the laksa and mix.

Pak Hun Gum Temple (0.5-1hr)

A Temple in a Cave
Pak Hun Gum Temple is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Baling. It has recently been refurbished and renovated with the donation collected by the locals. What makes this temple unique is its location inside a small limestone cave. Besides offering prayers to the Goddess of Mercy, many came to predict their fate.

One of the most famous landmarks in Baling would probably be the monolithic Baling Clock Tower which was erected to commemorate the Independence Day of Malaya in 1957. The tower has the word ‘Merdeka’, which means ‘independence’, inscribed on it. There are several nice huts built next to the clock tower for sojourners.
